It was perhaps the plainest of the herring types I tried with this sandwich but good for all that, something that would taste great on some buttered brown bread or simply speared with a toothpick from the jar.
The Yorkshire pudding wrap is exactly what you expect it to be. There are no surprises here. It is meat wrapped in an eggy pancake with potatoes and vegetables and gravy. But for all that it is quite satisfying.
The flavors are good but the proportions excessive, the kind of sandwich that you end up wearing as much as eating.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from Mrs. Ball’s chutney, but it is a sweet, mildly spicy condiment that was complemented well by the pungent and savory combination of onions, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese.
This meaty mix was an ideal platform for the sharp, spicy, garlic/herb flavor of the chimichurri and the sweeter, crisper salad-like “sauce” of salsa criolla.
It will probably not surprise you to learn that this was delicious. I myself am salivating rereading the description that I just typed.
A good Big Baby is not a miraculous event; it is no great eye-opening revelation. It’s just a double cheeseburger. But at its best, it is a very enjoyable, well-engineered and constructed double cheeseburger.
