February List Sandwiches and January Wrapup
Hello everyone, welcome to the weekend, and to February of 2020! As we get closer to the end of the alphabet, things have seemed to accelerate. Only last month, we were on the letter T. Now we’re on V, and in 2 more months we’ll have reached the letter Z and the end of our initial run through the list. It’s an exciting time for us here at the Tribunal!
We’re getting ahead of ourselves though, Before we get to those Zs, before we even get to this month’s sandwiches, let’s take a look back at what we covered in January! We started the month with a look at the Puerto Rican multi-meat sandwich the Tripleta, trying several versions at area restaurants and finally making our own. What a great sandwich! We also took a look at the various forms a tuna sandwich can take. We’re still interested in hearing about any variants we missed, let us know! Finally we went on a bit of a Vada Pav crawl, trying them at various vegetarian restaurants and snack shops around the Chicago metro area. It’ll probably be a while before I need another one of those!
Now let’s take a look at what’s coming up in February!
We’ve dealt with Vegemite before at the Tribunal, but we’re dedicating a post to the viscous stuff and how to employ it in sandwiches. PROTIP: You don’t need much of it! We’re also looking at Indian-style vegetable sandwiches. These ain’t your Subway veggie 6-inch special! Finally, we’re dealing with Welsh Rarebit, a beer and cheese sauce eaten with crusty bread. Can’t wait for that one!
As always, if any of our readers have any particular insight into any of our sandwiches of the month, we’d love to hear from you! Get in touch!
Changes to the List
- Democracy Sausage was added to the List! This refers to the Australian practice of having a “sausage sizzle” at polling places during an election as a fundraiser, though some Australians have told me that they do not actually use the term Democracy Sausage. Still, this is an exciting addition, and has been covered in the past by the Tribunal’s Australian correspondent Crit.
- Hot dog was once again removed from the List. I don’t anticipate this to be a permanent state of affairs, but as we’ve already covered it, we’ll let it go for now.
The idea behind this site is to explore the nature of sandwichness by eating every sandwich on the Official en.wikipedia.org List of Sandwiches and then to post here about it, preferably with lots of pictures and also words. Sandwich words.
