July List Sandwiches and June Wrapup
Welcome to July, sandwich friends! A new month is upon us, and a new set of sandwiches awaits our exploration! First, though, let’s take a look back at what we covered in June.
June was a fun month here at the Tribunal! We spent quite a bit of time exploring “Special” sandwiches at Jewish delis, which can’t help but be a good time. We took a look at the Spiedie sandwich from Central New York State, and at its Italian forebear, the arrosticini. And finally, we took a trip to St. Louis to learn about the St. Paul sandwich and it’s interesting history. Good times were had, and great sandwiches!
And now on to July!
July will be a steak-heavy month for us, and why not? We deserve to treat ourselves. We’ll be looking into the Steak Bomb, a cheesesteak variant from the northeastern US. We’ll also dig into steak burgers, made famous by the chain Steak & Shake but possibly done better elsewhere. Finally, we’ll try to do some justice to covering the broader category of steak sandwiches in general. It’ll be an all-American all-beef Independence Day extravaganza around here.
Changes to the List
Exciting news! A new sandwich was added to the list in June, and it sounds like an interesting one. From Peru, it’s called the butifarra–not to be confused with the similarly named Catalan sausage botifarra. We can’t wait to try it!
The idea behind this site is to explore the nature of sandwichness by eating every sandwich on the Official en.wikipedia.org List of Sandwiches and then to post here about it, preferably with lots of pictures and also words. Sandwich words.
