October Sandwiches and September Wrapup
Sorry for the late post, folks! We’ve had a crazy couple of weeks here at the Tribunal; new dog, birthday, and finally yesterday an Emergency Room trip! Everyone is fine, no worries, and we’ve already started working on October’s sandwiches. We still need to take a look back at September, though, when we found a couple of new favorites!
First off, the Molletes we made were excellent, basically putting nacho toppings on a split bolillo roll, and we can see ourselves doing this again in the future even when we don’t have to write about it. By the way, have I ever told you my theory that nachos are basically a pile of tiny open-faced sandwiches? Don’t answer right away, think about it for a minute first. Anyway, we also looked at the Monte Cristo sandwich, which I’m told is a staple at Disneyland. Turning an entire ham sandwich into French Toast is just as tasty as it sounds. Finally, we covered Spanish Montaditos, and I personally can’t get enough of Pan con Tomate as long as I’m still pulling these fantastic tomatoes out of my garden!
So September was pretty great for us, but what’s coming up in October? Some more exciting sandwiches!
Mindy and I will be going to Montreal to check out their Smoked Meat sandwiches, which are basically a mild pastrami on rye but hey, Montreal! Can’t wait! We’ll also be eating a lot of Mortadella, which is a type of fancy Italian bologna. Finally we’ll be back on familiar ground eating Chicago’s Mother-in-law, which is a tamale in a bun covered with chili, cheese, and the typical Chicago-style hot dog toppings. It’s going to be a good month!
Changes to the List
The list went largely unedited throughout September, without even the usual back-and-forth over whether a hot dog is a sandwich. What would those guys think of the Mother-in-law? Maybe I’ll ask them. Anyway, no real changes here.
The idea behind this site is to explore the nature of sandwichness by eating every sandwich on the Official en.wikipedia.org List of Sandwiches and then to post here about it, preferably with lots of pictures and also words. Sandwich words.
