March List Sandwiches and February Wrapup
I’m terribly disappointed in all of you.
I don’t mean you, dear reader. You guys are great. I mean the Tribunal. Three great sandwiches… OK, two great… Well, listen. Falafels are pretty awesome, and yet I’m the only person who wrote about any of our sandwiches this month.
However, Crit was on the ball by writing about Fairy Bread last year, and anybody who still has something to say about that, or about Fischbrotchen or Falafels, go ahead and write about it whenever and we’ll add your pieces to the List.
We’re on a pretty hectic pace, and life gets in the way, and I didn’t mean it about being disappointed. I’m glad you’re all on the team. sniff
Moving on!
There’s some crazy sugar-rush stuff going on this month and I know somebody other than me is going to want to get on this.
The Fool’s Gold Loaf is legendary, if only for the Elvis connection. But just look at that thing! No way I’m taking one of those down by myself. Fluffernutters are kind of silly but I imagine there are some interesting variations that could be pursued. And the Francesinha is pretty intimidating-looking but I bet that thing is mad delicious. I can’t wait. Keep in mind too that the Francesinha has a sausage-inna-bun variant that we’ll be investigating in April, so you could conceivably post about it next month if you don’t finish in time.
So who’s in this month? Do any of these sandwiches speak to you?
Note as of 3/9/2016: There were 2 new sandwiches added to the Wikipedia list in February, and of course some jerk keeps removing Hot Dog (which will remain in our List regardless):
- the Taiwanese Gua Bao sandwich
- the Singaporean Har cheong gai burger
Obviously I am super psyched about both of these items, and they’re coming up quickly, so I will be editing the list accordingly. Look for both of these sandwiches in the next few months.
The idea behind this site is to explore the nature of sandwichness by eating every sandwich on the Official en.wikipedia.org List of Sandwiches and then to post here about it, preferably with lots of pictures and also words. Sandwich words.
I’m sorry. I suck at most things right now. I keep trying to even get time to eat a sandwich, let alone write about one!
The fluffernutter has me thinking… can I even buy Fluff here? and if I can’t, how do I make it…Sadly, my main small sandwich consumer refuses to eat PB!
What in hell kind of kid refuses to eat peanut butter? My kid practically refuses to eat anything BUT peanut butter!
I know. I blame ‘nut free’ schools. Both my boys, have been convinced that nuts in general, but specifically peanuts, are going to kill them. D has seen sense now, but E is still confused. Anyway, my Fluff quests continue.
