December List Sandwiches and November Wrapup
Welcome to the last month of 2015! I hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving holiday! I sure did–I gained a few pounds, but I’m not sure if that’s from the turkey feast or from the massive number of deli sandwiches I ate during the month! We managed to squeak out posts on all 3 of our target sandwiches for November (though just barely), and we also had an extra holiday post from our resident hot dog guru Brian. Thanks, Brian!
And on to December…
It’s here, we’ve finally hit that moment in the List where we encounter the Donkey Burger. I don’t know how we’re going to handle this. All my research tells me that donkey meat simply isn’t available in the US. The closest analogue, horse meat, isn’t generally available either. My prior go-to source for exotic meats, Czimer’s in Homer Glen, shuttered over a year ago. It’s a puzzlement. Does the Tribunal have any friends in China who’d be willing to write a guest spot?
As for our other sandwiches this month, we’ve got Doubles, a Trinidadian fried chickpea flatbread, and Dynamite, which appears to be a special name those goofballs in Rhode Island have given to the lowly sloppy joe. Too cute.
So who has some ideas for sandwich writeups this month? Let me know in the comments below.
As for changes to the List, I have some good news, folks. For the moment, Hot Dog is back on the list! Hooray, good sense has prevailed!
The idea behind this site is to explore the nature of sandwichness by eating every sandwich on the Official en.wikipedia.org List of Sandwiches and then to post here about it, preferably with lots of pictures and also words. Sandwich words.
